“Boarding School, are you serious? That’s what some people said to me. Ignore them. I’m telling you now, some of the best days of your (son’s) life will be in those dorms.” – 6th Year Student
Clongowes Wood College is Ireland’s only remaining 7-day boarding school for boys. Set in beautiful surroundings, thirty kilometres from Dublin in the heart of the Co. Kildare countryside, we are a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition. Clongowes strives to support students in their growth towards a greater understanding and awareness of their faith and the part that this plays in their lives.
Clongowes is a home away from home for our community of 450 boys from Ireland and abroad, who we support to pursue their passions both at school and at home. Many boys visit home on Sundays after Mass, and we have extended weekend breaks every month where the boys go home Thursday evening to Monday evening, or to stay with Guardians in Ireland if their parents live overseas. Parents are welcome to drop in to visit their sons during the week, with Wednesdays and Saturdays afternoons busy with parents visiting to watch sports, and on Sundays as the boys can go home for the day after Mass. Families are encouraged to partake in the life of the school, in organising events, in attending mass every Sunday and in sports.
This Virtual Open Evening will allow you to find out more about what life is like at Clongowes, including a welcome from the Headmaster, and a series of 5-10 minute webinar sessions, including;
- Our Jesuit ethos
- Boarding life
- Daily life for students
- Our approach to teaching and learning
