Elements Choir: Performance at Drogheda Youth Choral Festival - Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 23rd November 2012

The Elements Choir from CWC travelled to Drogheda on November 21st to take part in the Drogheda Youth Choral Festival. The Boys represented the College in the most exemplary fashion, both in terms of choral excellence and conduct, and hence brought back the Fr.P. J. O’Kelly Trophy to Clongowes Wood College where it is on display in the College Concourse.

The C.W.C. choir sang two pieces by American composer Emily Crocker: The Message of the Holly; and The Drunken Sailor. The adjudicator on the day was Mr. Andrew Synnott, who was most laudatory in his comments on many technical aspects of choral singing. This was the first time that many of the boys have participated in the choral experience, and hopefully the boys appreciate the physical and disciplinary aspects of singing, and many skills which are transferable to other areas of the curriculum. The Choir was directed by Ms. A. Conaghan, and accompanied by Ms. E. Keighary.

We very much forward to performing for you at the next Christmas Concert here in the College on Sunday, 9th December.
