Trad Session on Tuesday - Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 1st April 2017

The Clongowes Trad group will be playing in Connolly’s of Ballagh on Tuesday, April 4th from 19.30-21.30. This promises to be a great night of music and song and provides an opportunity to say thank you and farewell to our sixth year student, John lappin who has been with us since third year.

Started in 2008 by Clongowes music teacher, Ms Catherine Heslin (left above), the Clongowes ‘Trad Group’ is a collaboration of students from all year groups as well as staff members. The group is made up of musicians playing a variety of musical instruments including the fiddle, flute, tin whistle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, cajón and bodhrán. The group meets once a week to rehearse and they are regular performers at school events as well as outside of the college.

Directions to Connolly’s from the school:

Exit the school and head right towards Kilcock.

Travel as far as Baltracy crossroads (a well lit up junction)

Turn left, signposted Donadea and Timahoe.

Go straight down this road, approx 4 km passing Donadea forest park on your left

Keep going straight and after approx 1 km more you will reach a crossroads with a small stone pub on the right. That is Connolly’s.
