Trad for Trócaire – 2019 | Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 12th November 2019

Trad for Trócaire is a national fundraising campaign initiated after the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010 which had over 230,000 fatalities. Music teacher, Mrs Catherine Heslin founded the Clongowes Trad Group back in 2008 who were invited to launch the Trad for Trócaire campaign in both 2014 and 2015. They now organise many events over the course of the year to raise much-needed funding to support communities in many countries across the developing world who struggle daily with poverty and social injustice. The group will be performing tonight in Connolly’s of Ballagh. The Clongowes Trad Group is a collaboration of all year groups, staff members and various musicians who play an assortment of instruments including the fiddle, flute, tin whistle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, cajón and bodhrán.

Over the past number of years, the group has formed strong links with Trócaire and is delighted once again, to be playing their part in this important fundraiser. The Trad session is always a great night of entertainment and an opportunity to support a wonderful fundraising event.  We do hope you will support them tonight at Connolly’s of Ballagh!
