Clongowes Wine 2017
As part of their fund raising activities for the Duck Push this year three boys in Syntax decided to provide past pupils and parents with a set of good quality European wines with a label, which reflected the history of the College and at a competitive price. Mark Galvin, Ross McGoey and Luke McDermott have enjoyed sourcing the product, designing the label and organising the various elements of their business plan over the second term and are now ready for customers.
The wines have been sourced from the Vignerons de Sommierois, located between Montpellier and Nimes in the South of France and will add that something special to any occasion this year or next as they keep well! The two wines are:
A Sauvignon Blanc which ‘is a bright lime-yellow colour with delicate aromas of grapefruit, lemon and elderflower. The palate is quite delicate and minerally, with a fresh, appetising wash of sweet gooseberry, celery and tropical fruits’.
A Syrah Grenache which ‘is exceptionally round, with an easy drinking style, bright berry fruit flavours, mild acidity and the softest, most mannerly of tannins. It is very aromatic with notes of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, with flickers of pink peppercorn and cola.’
The labels display all of the information required by today’s wine industry as well as a beautiful depiction of the Castle at Clongowes from an engraving, circa 1820. There is a limited run so it is important to get your orders in quickly. The wine arrives from France at the end of April.
