Advent Service of Reconciliation - Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 7th December 2016

On Wednesday, 7th December we will hold our annual Advent Reconciliation Service in Clongowes. Led by Fr Bruce Bradley SJ the whole school will come together in the Sports Hall at 9.15pm for a 40 minute liturgy exploring the nature of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the ‘Why’ of going to Confession. Using the media of film, music and the spoken word this liturgy will attempt to express in a modern and contemporary manner this underutilised and – for some – unfashionable, but primary sacrament of our Catholic faith.

The numbers involved means bringing in outside priests to hear confessions within RE class period in the days following this liturgy.  Following on the remarkable success of this initiative last year –  in terms of the numbers of students voluntarily availing of the sacrament –   it has  now become a staple part of our liturgical programme both in Advent and Lent for all students during the academic year in Clongowes.
