The Cross Country teams have been training hard since September in order to regain any speed and stamina lost over a decadent summer and – if recent results are anything to go by – it would seem like they have.
At the recent Kildare Country Championships, Clongowes boys won two out of the four races. Michael Spillane (Elements) ran a tactically clever race to secure the Minor Boys’ title while Jack O’Leary (Rhetoric) led from start to finish to prevail in the senior event. Christian Casey (Poetry) was also impressive with a determined third place finish. (Jack, Michael and Christian pictured above).
On the team front, Clongowes’ Intermediates of Greg O’Reilly, Dan Reilly, Douglas Oman and Andrew Hanley won silver while the Senior team of the above mentioned O’Leary and Casey were aided by Charlie Coonan and Charlie Murtagh to claim a creditable second place overall.
Congratulations to all involved.
