Learning to Love the World as God Does

A lecture by Dr David Tuohy SJ on Jesuit Humanism in Education and a major exhibition entitled In the Spirit of the Saints: the Jesuit Influence on Baroque Art will mark the end of a series of events to mark the Jesuit Restoration (1814-2014) organised by the Irish Jesuit Restoration Committee.

The lecture – Learning to Love the World as God Does: Jesuit Humanism in Education by educationalist and author David Tuohy will take place on Thursday 22nd January in St Patrick’s College of Education, Drumcondra, Dublin at 6.30pm. Dr Anne Lodge, Principal of the Church of Ireland College of Education and Mr Gerard Foley, Headmaster of Belvedere College SJ, will respond.

Dr John Bowman, historian and broadcaster, will chair the event, which will be followed by a reception and a launch of the book Characteristics of Jesuit Education, edited by Brian Grogan SJ.

In mid-February the exhibition In the Spirit of the Saints: The Jesuit Influence on Baroque Art will be held in the National Gallery of Ireland along with a six-week lecture series on Sundays and Tuesdays, four evening lectures on Thursdays, and on 28 March, a full-day conference in the National Gallery on Jesuits and the Arts.
