On Sunday November 17th , 40 students forsook the late Sunday call and gathered for early-morning Mass and breakfast to allow for a swift 9am departure from the college for a day of adrenaline-filled adventure at Zip-It in Lough Key, Co. Roscommon. Elements students, Theo McGirr & Mark O’Loan take up the story…

“Zip-It is Ireland’s first high-wire aerial forest trail course. With interconnected platforms placed at various heights throughout the circuit, the participants must make their way from one tree-top to another using a variety of methods. Having been fitted with a harness and briefed on features of the course and the equipment, it was our turn to tackle 750 metres of Zip lines.

We began on a smaller circuit of obstacles first, before moving onto a more advanced circuit once our confidence was up! We climbed high into tree canopies, swung onto cargo nets, surfed with a difference and those who claimed to be fearless tested their mettle on the base jump!

After over three hours out in the forest it was time to face into the journey back to Clane and a new week ahead, but not before a trip to McDonald’s in Longford!”

“There were many tough obstacles like tightrope walking and swinging planks which you had to cross from 30 feet up. It was tough and very fun. I loved it!”
