The year couldn’t have started any better for the James Joyce Library. Robert Muchamore, the most popular author in the school visited on Mon Sept 10th.
Muchamore is the author of the hugely successful teen spy thriller series Cherub. He has topped student borrowings of fiction books from the library for the last two years
Guardian Angel, his latest and much anticipated novel was released in August. Copies of Guardian Angel and his other books including a graphic novel edition of The Recruit, the first book of the series, were on sale to students at a discounted price on the day through Leixlip based International Education Supplies (I.E.S.). Muchamore’s trip to Clongowes is part of his Guardian Angel Irish tour.
Numbers were such for the event that it was hosted in the Sports Hall. All students from Elements to Syntax attended. Hachette Ireland sponsored the visit and also generously provided the students with Cherub bookmarks, pens and pins, adding even more to the excitement! After Robert’s address to the students he facilitated a Q&A session that produced interesting questions and responses. Following a short break for lunch in the Refectory, Robert moved to the library for a signing session that proved longer than anticipated, such was the demand. Muchamore left in little doubt that his Cherub fan club is alive and well in Clongowes Wood College and that he’s a strong contender again for top spot of most popular authors this school year.
