We warmly invite you to join our Open Morning, for boys and their parents interested in joining First Year (or Elements as it is known here at Clongowes) in September 2025 and 2026. The morning will give you a real insight into what boarding life is like here and is a great way to see what the school is like during a typical day. Please register via the form below.
The Open Morning will consist of a range of activities for the boys and will be a chance for them to get a sense of life at Clongowes and all that it has to offer, including:
- Introduction from the Headmaster and School Captain
- Take part in art and science activities
- Have a swim in our 25M swimming pool and use some of our sports facilities
- Tour of the School and boarding dorms
- Meet our students
- Lunch in the school dining hall
Parents will spend time with the staff and students on an interactive guided tour of the school where they will get a real sense of life at Clongowes and all that it has to offer. Parents will also have light lunch in the Castle from 12pm .

Clongowes Wood College is Ireland’s only remaining 7-day boarding school for boys. Set in beautiful surroundings, thirty kilometres from Dublin in the heart of the Co. Kildare countryside, we are a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition. Clongowes strives to support students in their growth towards a greater understanding and awareness of their faith and the part that this plays in their lives.
Clongowes is a home away from home for our community of 450 boys from Ireland and abroad, who we support to pursue their passions both at school and at home. Many boys visit home on Sundays after Mass, and we have extended weekend breaks every month as well as optional Saturday night leave where the boys go home or to their guardian. Parents are welcome to drop in to visit their sons during the week, with Wednesdays and Saturdays afternoons busy with parents visiting to watch sports, and on Sundays as the boys can go home for the day after Mass. Families are encouraged to partake in the life of the school, in organising events, in attending mass every Sunday and in sports.
