Ireland’s Leading Boys’ Boarding School - Clongowes Wood College

Are you Considering School Options for your Son?

We know many parents are keen to provide their son with stability throughout his school years. As such, you may currently be evaluating school options for the coming academic year and beyond. We know you’ll want to ensure your son can join a school where he will thrive not just academically and in sports, but in the development of his personal character and Catholic faith, too.  Welcome to Clongowes Wood College, Ireland.

Clongowes is one of Ireland’s top independent boys’ boarding schools, for boys aged 12-18. Set in 550 acres of beautiful surroundings, just thirty kilometres from Dublin in the heart of the Co. Kildare countryside, we are a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition, and strive to support students in their growth towards a greater understanding and awareness of their faith, and the part that this plays in their lives.

“When I visited Clongowes, I was blown away by the warm and homely atmosphere” – Parent.

All our boys board full time, going home once a month for a long weekend (usually Thursday – Monday evening), in addition to the usual school holidays. At just over 20,000 Euros per year, our boarding fees are substantially lower than UK boarding fees, yet our grounds, facilities and results are on a par with some of the top UK boarding schools.

Students take the Irish Leaving Certificate exam – the equivalent of A-Levels or IB – at the end of 6th Year . The Leaving Certificate is a globally recognised qualification that allows graduates to access  universities in the UK, Europe and all over the world.  The syllabus is broad and balanced with 7 subjects studied.  Students from the UK education system integrate seamlessly into the Irish system when they enter at 1st year and further up the school.

We warmly invite you to take a virtual tour of our school – it will give you a good flavour of what our school is like, and you will hear from our current students as they take you through the tour. If you’d prefer, our Director of Admissions, Áine Corcoran, can take you on a remotely guided virtual tour, or you can even book a private in-person tour.

Our school is readily accessible from London, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham airports, as we are just a 30-40 minute drive from Dublin airport.

If you would like to make an enquiry about a place for your son for September 2024 or 2025, or to receive further information about our school, please complete the short form below and we will be in touch within the next 2 working days.
