‘Mind Your Mental Health’ Photography Competition.

Congratulations to Kieran Clohessy (Poetry) and Ms Louise Dunne (Receptionist) who were the student and staff winners respectively of our recent ‘Mind Your Mental Health’ photography competition.

For both winners the outdoors and the power of light featured as their interpretation of the competition’s theme. Kieran’s observant eye caught a silhouette backlit by rays of sun in a woodland setting. Inspired by the German-American writer, Charles Bukowski he titled his photo ‘If there is light it will find you’. (Kieran is pictured above accompanied by Pastoral Co-Ordinator, Ms Anne Marie Dolan – doyenne of the Amber Flag project – and College Librarian, Ms Jane O’Loughlin. The two winning entries are below).

Ms Dunne’s photo featured cyclists in silhouette captivated by a beautiful sunset. ‘Darkness into Light’ the title for her photo suggests how pervasive the theme of Pieta House’s powerful annual series of walks has become. How apt too was her amber sky for the week in which we launched our Amber Flag for Promoting Positive Mental Health campaign.

Both winners received a framed copy of their photos, while Kieran’s entry has also been forwarded to the Mental Health Ireland Photography Competition 2017-2018. We wish him all the best with the further adjudication of his photo. Thank you to all who participated in the competition and to Mr Nelson for his support.
