Grammar Parent Day - Clongowes Wood College

GRAMMAR PARENT DAY

Grammar Parent Day will take place on this Sunday 27th November 2016 as indicated on the school calendar. The day will begin at 10am with Eucharist in the Sports Hall and will end at 1pm with lunch, which will be provided in the refectory. (Full schedule here)

Our presenter will be Mr Oisin McConville and his theme will be

“The Gambler – Oisin McConville’s story”.

As far as those who marvel at his sporting glories are concerned, Oisin McConville is a winner. His career has marked him out as one of the most gifted footballers of a generation, but off the pitch, winning has not been so easy.

Outside the sport, McConville looked for other ways to replicate the buzz he felt while on the pitch for Crossmaglen and Armagh, and things very quickly got out of control. After the closure of his pub, it was rumoured that he had a drinking problem but in fact Oisin had fallen victim to another addiction: Gambling. What started as a hobby became an overwhelming obsession.

We hope that you can attend. Please RSVP to lgriffin@clongowes.net or at 045 838294 before Thursday 24th November and in your response please let us know if you will be staying for lunch so we can give accurate numbers to our catering staff.
