Last Sunday, 36 Clongowes lads (2 Grammar, 11 Rudiments, 23 Elements) hopped on a 9am bus after Early Mass with their packed lunches aboard and headed west to Strandhill for a spot of surfing.

Strandhill surf club gave 30 min dry shore lessons on the technique and the swell picked up right on cue for the lads to launch. A few party waves later the boys reluctantly relinquished their boards, hit the showers and climbed back on the bus. After a “Womba rivaling” rendition of “Big Mac Large Fries” Mr. McElwee was persuaded to make a pit stop in McDonald’s, much to the delight of the baying boys.

In to ‘surf to turf’ style, the boys headed straight to the V.M.P. for a game of Tip Rugby on their return. Special thanks to Mr. McElwee and Mr. Sharkey for organizing the day out.
