Autumn Photography Competition

The winners of our Clongowes – Autumn Glory 2014 photography competition were announced after Morning Prayer on Thursday November 20th:

St. John Dundon (Syntax)                  ‘Rainbow of Autumn’ (Lower Line Category)

Michael Moloney (Rhetoric)              ‘The Arc of Success’ (Higher Line Category)

Mr Steven Gray                                  ‘Midnight Feast’ (Staff Category)

We did not forget Third Line – we just had no entries from either Elements or Rudiments. Hopefully they will be inspired to enter future competitions by the winning photos and other entries currently on display.

St. John’s image beautifully captures a beech tree on the bank of the Gollymocky, backlit by the autumn sun.

The Gollymocky also features in Michael Moloney’s shot. Using a creative angle and the stone arch over the stream he captured the castellated gates outside the refectory, whilst also showing some autumn foliage.

Finally, Mr Gray’s night shot focused on a hedgehog feasting upon a meal of pine cones.

The winners will each receive a high quality framed print of their photos. A second framed copy will be placed on display in the James Joyce Library. Thanks to all who participated in the competition.
