Grandparents’ Sunday - Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 7th April 2016

Clongowes Wood College SJ

Next Sunday (April 17th) there will be a special Sunday Eucharist in Clongowes to celebrate all Grandparents of the students and community in the College. We would like to invite any Grandparents who can to come to this special liturgy in their honour. The Mass will take place at 11.am in the Sports Hall and the Principal Celebrant will be Fr Barney McGuckian SJ.

We are looking for circa five volunteers from amongst the ranks of Grandparents to take part in a simple liturgy of light (holding a symbolic candle) during the Mass. Please contact Liz Griffin (lgriffin@clongowes.net) ph.045 838294 if you feel you could help in this regard.

In the words of Pope Francis: How important grandparents are for family life, for passing on the human and religious heritage, which is so essential for each and every society! How important it is to have intergenerational exchanges and dialogue, especially within the context of the family. Children and the elderly build the future of peoples: children because they lead history forward, the elderly because they transmit the experience and wisdom of their lives. This relationship and this dialogue between generations is a treasure to be preserved and strengthened.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our special Mass for Grandparents in Clongowes on the Sunday 17th April.
