Posted: 13th October 2014

At a reception in the college on Monday 6th October, details were announced of the forthcoming Rugby Festival which will take place on the grounds on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th October.

Current, past and future rugby stars attended the event where representatives of the 20 participating schools (from Ireland north and south, Wales and the UK) were given details of the two-day blitz. The winning team will be awarded a commissioned bronze trophy by sculptor John Coll.

The launch was addressed by the Headmaster Fr. Leonard Moloney sj, who welcomed guests, including Old Clongownians and current Leinster players Gordon D’Arcy and Ed Byrne, rugby pundits Brent Pope (all pictured above) and Neil Francis and many other distinguished members of the rugby community.

The 15 a-side matches will take place from 10am to 4pm each day on nine pitches and will be run under IRFU/IRB laws with accredited referees. The Rugby Festival is only one of a myriad of activities which are taking place to mark the College’s 200 year history.

Entry is free and all spectators are welcome!
